Routes - Typical Weeks Activities
No two weeks are ever the same, depends on the group's experience, stamina and wishes.
Day 1
Upon your arrival, we will be waiting in the airport arrivals to help you with your luggage and to get you loaded on to our minibus. It takes just under an hour to reach Obzor from either Varna or Bourgas airports. Depending upon arrival times, we will go straight to the hotel where you will be staying to get you checked in and drop off your luggage. Then we will make the short drive to Duylino were we are based to sort out the bikes, have a cold drink and chat about the forth coming week of biking.
Day 2
We will meet you at the hotel about 9.30am with the bikes and go and have an explore of Obzor before setting off into the mountains. We will ride a mixture of jeep tracks and singletracks with some excellent singletrack decents before arriving back at our base in Dyulino around mid afternoon. Lunch is at the village bar and consists of traditional foods made by local chef, Mama Ba Ba and a cold beer.
Day 3
We pick you up at the hotel and have a quick drive back to Dyulino before setting off through some stunning Oak forest. We ride up to Byala before following the coast and exploring hidden coves and fantastic beaches. We finally arrive at Skorpilovci beach were you have a chance to explore an old Russian holiday camp..... Butlins will never look the same ever again! Lunch is at a beachside restaurant, with plenty of time afterwards for a cool swim. The pedal back is through the forest on some old trails before we follow some singletrack back down to Obzor.
Day 4
After collecting you from the Hotel, we set off today from our base in Dyulino. We follow the small river that flows through the village and then head up for a nice climb. We stop for lunch and to catch our breathe at a tiny village called Pantsovo and enjoy the great views. Then it is on up to the mast which is the highest point with spectacular views of Sunny Beach. Then the fun begins, after all the climbing you are rewarded with some fantastic singletrack downhill, with rocks and drops to test your technical skills. There is another short climb before the final descent back into Dyulino. Then plenty of time to chill and have a cold drink before the short drive back to Obzor.
Day 5
Today is a rest day from biking Why not take the opportunity to explore this beautiful region of Bulgaria. We have arranged special rates if you want to hire a car to visit Varna or Sunny Beach. Have a chill day on the beach with a beer or two, or sample some of the different watersports on offer. For the more energetic, maybe try paint balling, motorcross, mountain walking or scuba diving.
Day 6
We set off from the hotel a bit earlier today and head inland following old cart tracks and walking trails which allow a faster pace. This is a very rural ride and a good opportunity to see wild foxes, deer and boar. When we reach Beloslav, we catch the ferry boat across Varna lake and then have a short ride before we reach the Petrified Forest, where you have an opportunity to explore one of the seven wonders of the Geological World. It is then a short pedal back to the ferry and some much needed refreshments before we are collected by the minibus. On the way back to Obzor, we stop in Byala at the local vine yard for some very enjoyable wine tasting!
Day 7
Another earlier start, we have a short drive to Irakli were we park and set off on the bikes. We follow the coastal paths until we reach Emona were we stop for refreshments. Its then a very scenic pedal along an old jeep track with some of the best views in Bulgaria until we reach St Vlas which is the start of the Sunny Beach resort. From here it is a fast pedal along the front to reach the 9000 year old Island of Nesebar. This is the most visited attraction on the Black Sea Coast and dates back to to the 2nd Centuary BC. After lunch at a harbour side restaurant, there is time to explore this historic site and see some of the ancient buildings. Then its back on the bikes for the ride back along the coast. To finish we take a different route to Irakli which has some of the most enjoyable downhill of the holiday and guarantees a smile or two. Then there is just time for a beer at the scenic beachside bar before the short drive back to Obzor for your final night out.
Day 8
Sadly its going home day, we will collect you from the hotel and get you to the airport in plenty of time for some duty free shopping before the flight home.
